How Arnisdale House Began

For more than 25 years, we — a Belgian couple with a deep love for Scotland — have travelled across the Highlands and Islands searching for places that felt peaceful, authentic and truly special.

Again and again, we found ourselves drawn back to the Isle of Lewis.

The endless skies, the dramatic Atlantic coastline, the silence around Loch Barvas and the slower pace of life made this island feel unlike anywhere else we had ever visited.

Over time, Lewis became much more than just a destination for us.
It became a place where we could completely unwind, reconnect and feel at home.

After many years running our own restaurant in Belgium, we understood how important comfort, hospitality and attention to detail truly are.
When we eventually found Arnisdale House, we knew we had discovered the perfect place to create the kind of stay we had always hoped to find ourselves while travelling through Scotland.

Wendy’s passion for photography also allows us to capture and share the ever-changing beauty of this incredible island — from peaceful mornings over the loch to dramatic Atlantic sunsets.

Today, we feel incredibly grateful to welcome guests from all over the world to this special corner of the Isle of Lewis, and to share the peace, space and atmosphere that made us fall in love with it ourselves.
